A search was conducted, and police reportedly seized a hard disk named "Pandora" from the home of , who was a chief suspect. This hard disk allegedly contained detailed files on 831 different individuals, including high-ranking officers, government officials, and bureaucrats. The files contained what were presented as transcripts of private conversations, often of a sexual nature, and were claimed to be evidence of a massive espionage and blackmail network. These files were not only shared in court but also leaked to the press, in what lawyers for the accused said was an attempt at "character assassination".
A new investigation was launched, this time targeting the perpetrators rather than the victims.
